Φέτος, όπως και άλλες χρονιές, ταξίδεψα σε μια περιοχή που για μένα είναι η πιο ωραία της Ελλάδας. Στην κάτω άκρη της νοτιοδυτικής Πελοποννήσου, στη Φοινικούντα. Στα ταξίδια με το αυτοκινούμενο στην Ελλάδα έχω δει σχεδόν όλες τις ακτές. Σχεδόν παντού ήταν όμορφα, αλλά η περιοχή γύρω από τη Φοινικούντα με έχει μαγέψει ιδιαίτερα. Η Μεσσηνία είναι μια περιοχή με πολύ νερό και δείχνει ανάλογα πράσινη ακόμα και τους ζεστούς μήνες του χρόνου. Μοιάζει κάπως με την Τοσκάνη της Ιταλίας βρίσκεται στον ίδιο παράλληλο με την Τυνησία, με σχεδόν υποτροπικό κλίμα, πολύ ήλιο ακόμα και το χειμώνα και με τις πιο ωραίες και πιο καθαρές παραλίες της Μεσογείου. Η Φοινικούντα είναι ακόμα μικρή και γραφική, δεν την έχει ακουμπήσει ο μαζικός τουρισμός. Μέχρι τώρα υπήρχαν τέσσερα κάμπινγκ και όλα ήταν κατά κάποιο τρόπο αξιοσημείωτα. Από φέτος (2003) υπάρχει και το πέμπτο, FINIKES, μόλις 80 μέτρα από τη θάλασσα, και 1700 μέτρα από το χωριό, στην παραλία Μακρυάμμος, την πιο γνωστή και αμμουδερή παραλία της Φοινικούντας. Ένα συγκρότημα με ενοικιαζόμενα δωμάτια ενσωματωμένα τέλεια στη φύση και γύρω από αυτά ευρύχωρες θέσεις με σκιά για τους επισκέπτες με σκηνή ή τροχόσπιτο. Ένας ενδιαφέρων συνδυασμός! Συμπληρώνεται από ένα μικρό καφέ-μπαρ, εστιατόριο,ένα μίνι-μάρκετ και τα απαραίτητα κοινόχρηστα κτίρια. Όλα αυτά κατασκευασμένα και εξοπλισμένα με ασυνήθιστα καλής ποιότητας υλικά. Πέρασα μερικές εβδομάδες στο κάμπινγκ FINIKES και πρέπει να ομολογήσω ότι σπάνια ένοιωσα τόσο ωραία σε ένα κάμπινγκ... Ένας από τους λόγους, κάτι το οποίο δεν περιγράφεται σε κανένα τουριστικό οδηγό και εκφράζεται δύσκολα με λέξεις. Η ατμόσφαιρα που επικρατεί εκεί. Οι ιδιοκτήτες του κάμπινγκ, μια εξυπηρετική και πρόσχαρη οικογένεια Ελλήνων και η Γερμανίδα, πολύγλωσση ρεσεψιονίστα Andrea εκπέμπουν μια εξαιρετική ζεστασιά η οποία ακόμη και για την Ελλάδα είναι ασυνήθιστη. Είναι φανερό ότι τον πρώτο ρόλο δεν παίζει το κέρδος αλλά η πρόθεση να κάνουν τους επισκέπτες τους να περνούν ωραία. Επομένως υπάρχει πάντα διάθεση για ειδικές προσφορές για τους κατόχους Camping Card και σε περίπτωση διαμονής μεγάλης διάρκειας. Και το καλύτερο. Το κάμπινγκ είναι ανοιχτό όλο το χρόνο! Για όσους, όπως εγώ, προτιμούν την Ελλάδα τη χαμηλή περίοδο, ακόμα και το Χειμώνα. Συγχαρητήρια! Εγώ πάντως έχω βρεί το αγαπημένο μου κάμπινγκ,στην

For this year’s vacation, as in past years, I felt drawn towards part of Greece, which for me is the most beautiful one, the south western tip of the Peloponnese, to the village of Finikounda. Having traveled through Greece in my camper car I believe I have seen most shores. Almost all of them were beautiful, but I was particularly charmed be the area around Finikounda. Messinia is one of the greenest prefectures of Greece, even throughout the hot months of the year. It somewhat resembles the Italian Toscana, is situated on the same latitude as Tunisia, with an almost subtropical climate and lots of sunshine, even in winter, and the most beautiful and cleanest beaches of the Mediterranean. Finikounda is still picturesque and yet untouched by mass tourism and the overall rise of prices due to the Euro.
Up to now, there were four campsites, all of them in one way or another to be recommended. As of this year (2003) there is a fifth campsite: FINIKES (Palm trees), just 80 meters from the sea and 1700 m from the village of Finikounda. Snuggled into the western end of the bay, the little houses with air conditioned rooms for rent are in perfect harmony with surrounding nature. Arranged around these houses are the spacious, mostly shaded, pitches for the campers. A very interesting combination, completed by a Cafe / Bar, a restaurant and a Mini-Market and the necessary common use buildings, which are surprisingly well built and equipped. I have spent some time on FINIKES campsite and
I must admit: never have I felt so relaxed and welcome on a campsite.
The main reason for this is something that is not mentioned in any
guide and hard to put into words: the atmosphere on the campsite!
The people who run the site, a happy and serviceable Greek family,
and the German polyglot receptionist Andrea, radiate a warmth which
is rare even in Greece. It is obvious that their first concern is
not to make profit but to make their guest’s stay as positively
unforgettable as possible and they do so with great joy and energy.
Accordingly they are always willing to make special offers for camping
card holders and longer stays. And the best: the campsite stays
open all year round! For all who – like me – love Greece best in
low season and even winter! Congratulations! As for me, I have found my favorite
campsite in my favorite area of Greece! Dieter The campsite has 80 plots
for tents, campers and caravans.
Auch dieses Jahr zog es mich wieder in den fuer mich schoensten Teil Griechenlands: in den aeussersten Suedwesten des Peleponnes, nach Finikounda. Auf langjaehrigen Wohnmobil-Touren durch Griechenland habe ich wohl jeden Kuestenabschnitt gesehen. Schoen war es (fast) ueberall, aber die Gegend um Finikounda hat es mir angetan. Messinien ist eine der wasserreichsten Regionen Griechenlands und selbst in der heissesten Jahreszeit ist es hier entsprechend gruen. Ein Hauch von Toscana, immerhin auf der geographischen Breite von Tunesien, mit fast subtropischem Klima, viel Sonne, auch im Winter, mit den schoensten, saubersten Straenden des Mittelmeeres. Immer noch beschaulich , vom Massentourismus unberuehrt und vom Preisauftrieb des Euro noch weitgehend verschont. Bisher gab es dort vier Campingplaetze, alle auf irgendeine Art empfehlenswert. In diesem Jahr (2003) gibt es einen fuenften: FINIKES (Palmenbaeume), nur 80 m vom Meer und 1700 m vom Dorf Finikounda entfernt. Am Ende der langen Bucht liegt malerisch ein Ensemble von kleinen, sich in die Landschaft einfuegenden Haeuschen mit klimatisierten Zimmern, umgeben von grosszuegigen, meistens beschatteten Stellplaetzen fuer Zelte und Camper. Eine interessante Mischung! Ergaenzt durch eine kleine Bar, ein Restaurant, einen Mini-Markt und entsprechende Versorgungsgebaeude. Letztere in fuer griechische Verhaeltnisse ungewohnt gediegener, qualitativ hochwertiger Ausstattung. Ich verbrachte dort einige Zeit und muss gestehen:
selten habe ich mich auf einem Platz so wohl gefuehlt. Und das Beste: der Platz ist ganzjaehrig geoeffnet! Fuer alle, die - wie ich - Griechenland in der Vor- und Nachsaison und selbst im Winter am liebsten moegen. Grosses Kompliment! Ich jedenfalls habe meinen
Lieblingsplatz in meiner Lieblingsregion gefunden. Dieter Der Campingplatz hat 80 Plaetze
